There's a petition going at the moment to get Sky to put the Sci Fi channel on as their associated companies do overseas.
Bring on the Sci-Fi Channel !

Noticed an article today at lwn.net that Cisco is going to start selling plugin cards for their modular routers that run Linux.
This is for the 1800, 2800 and 3800 routers (the ISR range) and is what most businesses run, unless they are really small or really big.
I think this is an exciting development.

Ars Technica has a good article here on the new copyright law just passed.
I tend to agree with the article - the act is not as good as it could be, but it's better than the DMCA in the USA.

These photos taken by Jayne from our car driving along State Highway 1 of the fire today at Tamahere coolstore. The fire started around 4:30 pm. Highly surprised no real traffic management until after we took these photos at around 6 pm. We could feel the heat from inside the car with the windows up.
News story here on TVNZ. TV3 has video here. Best photos at present are here on Stuff. New Zealand Herald story here with one of Jayne's photos on it.
And here it is on Youtube the video Jayne shot

The New Zealand Herald has an update on Freeview here which talks about one guy's experience of the new Freeview HD box. One thing interesting is that if you are in right area (and it is not all areas) UHF internal aerial works fine. I've seen this in a few places.
